This is a really good book for a beginning gardener with limited space. I especially like that it shows many attractive container gardens as well as traditional in-the-ground and raised beds. One small quibble...I think they mean "3 feet squared" not "3 square feet" (which in the U.S. means 1'x3') since the illustrations always show 3'x3' arrangements (or "9 square feet'). Either way, they have practical plans for producing useable food in a very small space.
This wasn't exactly the book I was expecting. I was going for no larger than 3 square feet but after reading this book it seems that the plants mentioned would be better in 9 square feet. It was my mistake not the author. At one time I had planted a 4 foot square garden and it really was too large.However, the author did a fantastic job in explaining how to plant and grow a wide variety of plants and vegetables. He certainly knows his way around a garden. I feel certain that many people can learn a lot from this book.
Great book if you are pretty new to gardening/container gardening. It was laid out very easy to read and understand. Some great ideas too.
One of the best veggie garden books! Lots to learn for advanced gardeners and very clear easy to understand for beginners. Great format in a DK Publishing book I treasure as a reference book.
Just the book I wanted--specific instructions with accompanying photos on every page! I would recommend this to everybody who wants or needs to DIY.
It's alright, not exactly the wealth of knowledge I was hoping for. It's basically just general knowledge and ideas for how to lay out your raised beds (which I feel like anyone can do on their own). It repeats a lot of the same veggies over and over again.
Good book, well written, very informative. Have already put some small areas to use for pineapples.
