About the Author
Frederik van Oudenhoven is an ethnobiologist who works with smallholder farmers and indigenous communities around the defence of traditional food and agricultural practices. Jamila Haider is a sustainability researcher at the Stockholm Resilience Centre looking at locally appropriate development in areas of high agricultural and cultural diversity. Frederik and Jamila both worked in the Pamir Mountains for several years, before meeting over a bowl of apricot soup in the village of Darmorakht.
